City offices to close Memorial Day

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Suffolk city offices will be closed Monday.

Normal operations will resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash as scheduled May 31 through June 3. TFC Recycling will also conduct its normal recycling collection routes from May 31 to June 3.

Trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. For more information on refuse collection, call Public Works at 757-514-7630.

The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk and the Regional Landfill will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Suffolk Transit will not operate on Monday.

All Suffolk Parks & Recreation Joint Use Recreation Facilities (Mack Benn Jr., Booker T. Washington, Kings Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores and Oakland) will be closed Monday, as will the East Suffolk Recreation Center and the Curtis R. Milteer Sr. Recreation Center.

The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Monday, as will all Suffolk Public Libraries (Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk, Chuckatuck). The Morgan Memorial and North Suffolk libraries will reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The Chuckatuck Library will reopen on Monday, June 6, at 10 a.m.

The Suffolk Visitor Center will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. The Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

The Suffolk Executive Airport terminal will be unmanned Monday. The airfield, self-service fuel island and restaurant will remain open.
