Suspect sought after ‘domestic’ shooting in QVC parking lot

Editor’s note: This article was updated at 9:30 a.m. Friday to clarify that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the QVC Distribution Center. It was updated again at 3:15 p.m. to add that police had located the suspect’s vehicle.

Suffolk police are looking for a Franklin man suspected of shooting another man early Friday morning in the parking lot of the QVC Distribution Center off U.S. 460. The victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect, Alvin Edward Sears Jr., was last seen driving a black Dodge Durango with Virginia license plate UEV-7984. On Friday afternoon, police said they had located the vehicle but not Sears. He has outstanding warrants for aggravated malicious wounding, possession of firearm by convicted felon, use of firearm in commission of felony, shooting at occupied vehicle, violating protective order possession of firearm while subject to protective order and discharging firearm in a public place resulting in injury.

Police responded to the shooting at 2:56 a.m. 

Police said the suspect and victim “are known to each other,” and a news release referred to the incident as a “domestic related shooting.”

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
