Suffolk police took a person into custody Wednesday afternoon after an “alleged incident involving a firearm” at 3800 Acqua Lifestyle Apartments in the Bridgeport mixed-use development on Bridge Road in North Suffolk.

Details about the incident were scarce in a news release by the city.

Dispatchers were notified of the incident at 3:22 p.m.

“In connection with the incident, Suffolk Police initiated a traffic stop on the Western Freeway/Route 164 in Portsmouth during which time an individual was taken into custody without incident,” the release said.

The incident remains under investigation.  Police did not identify the detained person.
