Suffolk Art League sets summer programming

The Suffolk Art League has announced its lineup of summer camps and workshops designed to “keep young creative minds active.”

At the Suffolk Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, kids will learn to paint summertime fruits. No reservation is required.

Summer Art Days at the Suffolk Art Gallery will be held on the following Thursdays: June 30, July 7, July 21, July 28, Aug. 4 and Aug. 11. The morning session serves ages 5-8 from 10 to 11:30, and the afternoon session welcomes artists ages 9-14 from 12:30 to 2:30. Artist Hillarey Breedlove will lead the art history-inspired workshops in painting, clay, mixed media, drawing and more. The cost to register is $1, payable online in advance or walk-in as space allows.

From July 11-14, Virginia Elementary Art Educator of the Year 2021 Angela Salerno will lead a week of Art Camp at the Suffolk Art Gallery. The camp will focus on upcycled art and creative reuse. Camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon for ages 7-10 and costs $65 for SAL members or $75 for non-members. Limited scholarships are available; email suffolkartleague.education@gmail.com for details.
