10:50 p.m. update

The standoff ended when the SPD SWAT team entered the apartment at 601 Hillpoint Blvd. and took the armed person into custody without incident at 10:50 p.m.

The department’s Crisis Negotiations Team had negotiated with the person, whom police did not identify.

Suffolk police were on the scene of a “barricaded subject” Saturday night in the 600 block of Hillpoint Boulevard.

Police, in a news release sent at 9:45 p.m., said no further information was available.

Hillpoint Boulevard is located off Godwin Boulevard near Sentara Obici Hospital.
