The Suffolk Public Works Department advises the U.S. 58 Holland Road Corridor Widening project is preparing to shift the eastbound traffic over the current median, onto the vacated westbound lanes.

In a city news release, officials said that weather permitting, the contractor is planning to execute the shift Thursday, Aug. 18.

Westbound traffic was shifted onto the new temporary lanes in early August allowing the contractor to reconfigure lane markings, traffic signals and installing barrier rails on the vacated lanes ready to accommodate the eastbound traffic.

This traffic shift will allow the contractor to work more freely on the south side of U.S. 58, reducing the need for daily lane closures.

Motorists are reminded that there is a 35 mph speed limit in effect through the entire three-mile work zone.
