Two named to SNHU summer 2022 dean’s list

Two Suffolk residents were named to the Southern New Hampshire University summer 2022 dean’s list.

Ehrmann Lemons-Blunt and Sheniqua Everett, both of Suffolk, earned the honors during the summer terms that ran from May to August. To be named to the dean’s list, full-time undergraduate students must earn a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the term and earn more than 12 credit hours.

Seven named to SNHU summer 2022 president’s list

Seven Suffolk residents were named to the Southern New Hampshire University summer 2022 president’s list.

Those from Suffolk receiving the recognition for the summer terms that ran from May to August are: Mackenzie Kinee, Janine Antonis, Brande Armstrong, Kenneth Workman, Kayla Mathews, Angel LeVasseur and Monique Valencia.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and 12 credit hours  are named to the president’s list.

Lawrence named to UA summer 2022 director’s list

Aria Lawrence of Suffolk is one of 286 students enrolled in University of Alabama Early College during summer semester 2022 named to the director’s list with an academic record of 3.6 or higher. UA Early College allows high school students to get a head start on their college courses with more than 80 different online and on-campus courses where they can earn up to 30 hours of college credit.

JMU welcomes new Suffolk transfer students

James Madison University welcomed four new transfer students from Suffolk to campus this September.

The new JMU students from Suffolk are: Jack Powell, who has selected to major in accounting; Madison Williams, who has selected to major in elementary education;

Olivia Florian, who has selected to major in theater; and Justin Hudson, who has selected to major in marketing.

Radford University athletes lead Big South Conference presidential honor roll

Three Suffolk residents are part of the group who helped lead Radford University’s student athletes to be part of the 59.92% who earned the Big South Conference presidential honor roll status for their work in the classroom. This also ranks as the third-highest percentage since 2004.

Local students recognized are:

Radford student-athletes from Suffolk named to the 2021-22 Big South Conference presidential honor roll are: Bryson Dansberry, baseball, 3 GPA; Saleena Lynch, women’s soccer, 4 GPA; and Julia Burkley, women’s track, 3.51 GPA.

To be named to the presidential honor roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently-completed academic year, and this past season, 2,441 out of 4,074 eligible student-athletes achieved the benchmark.

Radford University led all Big South institutions for the first time since 2012-13, as RU had 77.83 percent of its 230 eligible student-athletes on the presidential honor roll — one of five members to have at least 70 percent of 3.0 students.

Local residents earn awards from WGU

Six local residents have earned an award of excellence at Western Governors University, which is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.

Suffolk residents recognized by WGU are: Danielle Bailey, Award of Excellence at Western Governors University College of Health Professions; Elizabeth Williams, Award of Excellence at Western Governors University Teachers College; James Sobers, Award of Excellence at Western Governors University College of Business; Mary Stiles, Award of Excellence at Western Governors University Teachers College; Kristen Gardner, Award of Excellence at Western Governors University College of Business; and Damion Currier, Award of Excellence at Western Governors University College of Information Technology.
