Dr. John Paul DaVanzo, 95, was reunited with his wife on the morning of Sep. 14, 2022. John was born in Seattle, Wash. to the late Fillipo and Grace DaVanzo. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Suffolk. John enjoyed watching Nationals baseball and University of North Carolina basketball. 

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Joan Elizabeth DaVanzo (Allen) of Vienna, Robert John DaVanzo of High Point, North Carolina, Stephen Phillip DaVanzo of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, John Paul DaVanzo Jr. (Ashley) of Chesapeake, William James DaVanzo (Ashley) of Leesburg, Georgia and Elizabeth D. Ireland (Joel) of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Jackie, Nickie, Courtney, Veronica, Wendy, Mallory, William, Jason, Ellie, Megan and Katie; great-grandchildren, Layla, Brooks, Hayden, and Walker and a host of other family and friends.

The family receives friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake. A funeral mass is at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
