Due to Hurricane Ian, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s-Western Tidewater scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1 in Suffolk is canceled. While organizers said they disappointed about this turn of events, they said will host their Promise Garden ceremony for the post-walk celebration to be held sometime in early November.

“We know that Walk Day can be a very moving and uplifting experience and we know that our walk participants are eager to gather in person again. For this reason, we would like to invite those signed up for the Western Tidewater Walk to join us at our Peninsula Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 15 in Port Warwick, located at 191 Walt Whitman Avenue in Newport News,” said walk manager Barbara Montieth. “There is no need to register for the Peninsula Walk – just show up on walk day and enjoy the experience.”
