City Council accepts funds for parks, technology

City Council members voted to approve two consent agenda items that are to accept funding to assist with circuit court fees and to provide new additions to Lake Meade Park.

At the Wednesday, Nov. 2 council meeting, the $8,500 from the two sources were adopted and appropriated for the city.

“Item 7, the city received funds in the amount of $3,500 from the Commonwealth of Virginia Technology Trust Fund in support of the circuit court for annual fees associated with the Tyler Technologies application used for criminal and civil cases,” said City Manager Albert S. Moore II of the first ordinance.

“Adoption of this ordinance will increase the revenues and expenditures of the general fund budget by $3,500 and there is no local match.”

The second ordinance was a donation of $5,000 to the city for the Department of Parks and Recreation to “purchase and install two park benches in Lake Meade Park,” Moore said.

“Adoption of this ordinance will increase the revenues and expenditures of the general fund operating budget by $5,000 and there’s no local match.”

Both ordinances were adopted through the consent agenda vote accepting them, 8-0.
