The Suffolk Seaboard Coastline Trail Segment 2 garnered an award for the city’s Parks and Recreation Department at the 68th annual conference of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society held in Virginia Beach.

Judged by a jury of its peers, Suffolk Parks and Recreation received the Best New Facility award, which is awarded for parks, playgrounds, blueways, greenways or trails. Suffolk’s award came in the population category for cities between 50,001-100,000.

More than 400 delegates, exhibitors, speakers and volunteers from around the state gathered this week for the conference, which also serves as a learning exchange and provides an opportunity for recreation and park professionals to discuss areas of common interest.
