The annual Panorama drive-through event at Wilroy Baptist Church returns this weekend at 306 Williams Rd.

The event, which is free and open to the public, runs from 7-8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16-18.

Wilroy Baptist Church Senior Pastor Allen Edwards and Wilroy Baptist Church Panorama Committee Sheila Morris shared the reasons behind the annual program,” Edwards said. “This church has been doing the Panorama for several years, long before I got here. It has a rich history, it’s well known in the community, it’s an event that the community looks forward to every year.”

Morris said it is their gift to the community in hopes that people will remember the true reason for the season.

“As people drive through in the comfort of their vehicle, they will see scenes, portrayed by members of Wilroy, of Jesus’ life from his birth to the ascension,” Morris said.

Morris and Edwards shared what they hope people will take away from the event.

“We hope that people are blessed by this event and reminded just how much God loves us all that he sent his only son Jesus to die for our sins,” Morris said. “He is truly the reason for the season. We wish all a merry Christmas and invite anyone that does not know Jesus as their personal savior to ask for someone to pray with them.”

Edwards said he simply wants people to take away the true meaning of Christmas, what Christmas is really about.

“Christmas has gotten very commercialized and very retailed based — about buying this and buying that —  when the best gift that has ever been given was Jesus Christ. That he died on the cross for our sins that we can be born again through him. Jesus is the best Christmas present anyone can ever receive.”
