Armed robberies reported at two convenience stores during weekend

Suffolk Police are investigating two armed robberies at convenience stores in the city Friday and Saturday.

Individuals held up the Happy Shopper on Carolina Road and the 7-Eleven on Wilroy Road at gunpoint, police said in weekend news releases.

The first involved a person wearing a clown mask during an armed robbery at 9:49 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at the Happy Shopper in the 400 block of Carolina Road Friday night.

Police said the suspect entered the store wearing a clown mask, produced a handgun and demanded money. The suspect obtained an unknown amount of money and then fled the scene on foot. There were no reported injuries.

The second armed robbery took place  at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4. at the 7-Eleven store in the 1100 block of Wilroy Road.

Police said the suspect entered the store, produced a handgun and demanded money, according to a news release. The suspect obtained an unknown amount of money and cigarettes, and then fled the scene on foot. There were no reported injuries.

Both investigations remain ongoing at this time, and police there is no further information available for release.
