The Suffolk Education Foundation hosts its eighth annual Gala for the Arts — A Night Under the Stars — beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27 at the Hilton Garden Inn Riverfront, 100 East Constance Road.

Proceeds directly benefit the fine arts programs in Suffolk Public Schools. Over the years, SEF has returned more than $40,000 directly to the theater, art, chorus, band and orchestra programs who shared their talents.

At the gala, be amazed by stellar creations from student artists. Blast off with supersonic music by student musicians. Bid on out-of-this-world desserts prepared by culinary students from the College and Career Academy at Pruden. Enjoy a spectacular dinner and networking with fellow supporters of the arts.

Tickets are $75 a person and $125 a couple. A table for 10 is $625.

Those who can’t attend are asked to sponsor a teacher’s gala ticket. Event sponsorships are still available.

Student vocal groups scheduled to perform represent Northern Shores Elementary School, Col. Fred Cherry Middle School, Nansemond River High School and the Center for Performing and Production Arts at Lakeland High School. Instrumental groups scheduled are from Lakeland and Nansemond River high schools. The drama club from John Yeates Middle School is set to share a scene from its upcoming production.

Back again this year are dessert samples and dessert auction items provided by the culinary art students from the College and Career Academy at Pruden.

A cash bar is available. But the highlight of the fun-filled evening of networking is seeing and hearing the talents of our local students.
