Robert Lewis Hicks, 74, passed away on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was born in Suffolk on Sept. 11, 1948, to the late Lewis Rawls Hicks and Martha Elizabeth Hicks Ryals. He retired as a Civil Servant for the United States Government after more than 20 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marquetta Davidson Hicks, and brother, Lloyd H. Hicks.

He is survived by his son, John R. Hicks and wife, Kelsey; daughter, Elizabeth K. Hicks; grandchildren, Emma and Corbin Hicks and sister-in-law, Catherine Hicks.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at St. Luke’s Church in Smithfield.
