Residential fires displaced five people, critically injuring one, with one late Saturday night and a second occurring Sunday morning.

The fire Saturday was at a home in the 100 block of Bosley Avenue, with the Sunday blaze at a home located in the 1600 block of Mount Lebanon Avenue.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue to the Bosley fire after Emergency Communications was contacted at 10:56 pm. Saturday, Feb. 18.. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:01 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke showing from a large two-story residential structure, according to a news release.

Fire crews performed an aggressive interior attack to find fire in the main living area of the structure.  

Two occupants had evacuated prior to the arrival of fire units. One of the occupants was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, fire and rescue officials said. Additionally, firefighters rescued one pet on the second floor.

The residence sustained heavy fire damage on the first floor and significant smoke and heat damage to the second floor.  The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.

A total of 17 Fire and Rescue units responded along with two from the Fire Marshal’s office.

In the second fire at Mount Lebanon Avenue, a family of three was displaced from their home. Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded after being dispatched by Emergency Communications at 10:16 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 19.

Five Fire and Rescue units arrived at 10:23 a.m. to find heavy fire showing from the front of the single story residential structure, according to a news release. Heavy fire was located throughout the structure.  

All occupants had exited the structure prior to arrival of fire crews. Heavy fire and smoke damage occurred throughout the structure. The fire was placed under control at 10:36 a.m. 

Two adults and one child are displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries to occupants or firefighters. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation, with Fire Marshal 6 leading the investigation. 

Fourteen units from Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded, along with Suffolk Police and Fire Marshall 6.
