Suffolk man indicted in connection with August shooting

The Suffolk Circuit Court Grand Jury handed down seven felony indictments in connection with an August 2022 shooting that claimed the life of a city woman.

John Dontrel Harris, 31, faces indictments for second-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, violent felon possession/transport of a firearm, statutory burglary-armed, first-degree murder (capias) and shoot/stab in commission of a felony (capias).

Harris was arrested in late August in connection with the shooting at a residence in the 1000 block of Nansemond Parkway, north of Portsmouth Boulevard and south of the U.S. 58 Bypass.

Responding officers found the victim, Delyna Hall, 24, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police did not release other details about the incident.

Harris is one of 41 individuals indicted Wednesday, Feb. 22 by the Grand Jury. In total, there were 105 true bills handed down, which include:

Ira Frederick Anderson — Malicious wounding

Quashaun Anthony Bailey — Possession with intent to distribute marijuana greater than one ounce to five pounds

Laron Cortez Baker-Pierce — Failure to register as a sex offender (two counts)

Calvin Fleming Beale — Distribute schedule I/II drugs (three counts) and possession of a gun with selling schedule I/II drugs

Patrick Dane Bosley — Involuntary manslaughter

Latona Monique Bradshaw — Welfare: Unauthorized use of food stamps

Daquan Marquis Brown — possession of a gun with selling schedule I/II drugs and distribute schedule I/II drugs

Miranda Alyssa Campbell — Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

Lisa Anne Casey — Assault and battery of a law enforcement officer

Deantae Terrance Coles — Violent felon possession/transport of a weapon

Nedko Ivanov Coon — Obtain money under false pretenses greater than or equal to $1,000 and larceny of checks greater than or equal to $1,000

Dana Marie Cooper — Election fraud-false statement (17 counts)

Daquan Lamar Ford — Conspiracy-robbery, robbery using force and violent felon possession/transport of a weapon

Tyrek Deontra Green — Statutory burglary

Joshua St. Augustine Harris — Grand larceny-auto theft (two counts)

Brandon Isiah Hill — Assault and battery of a law enforcement officer

Keith Andrew Jaeger — Felon possession of a weapon/ammo (not gun), elude/disregard police and possession of schedule I drugs (capias)

Angelica Johnson — Forging coin and bank notes

William Lawrence Jones — Nonviolent felon possession of a gun within 10 years, possession of a firearm-distribution of drugs and distribution of schedule I/II drugs

Angela Gail Landers — Assault and battery of a law enforcement officer

John Clinton Landers — Assault and battery of a law enforcement officer (two counts)

Jacob Nelson Jr. — Distribute cocaine (five counts-capias), possession of a gun while selling schedule I/II drugs and possession with intent to distribute cocaine

Jarod James Nelson — Strangle-wound/injury results, violate protective order-assault and protective order violation

Dyshawn Dikal Nixon — Obtain money under false pretenses greater than or equal to $1,000 and larceny of checks etc. greater than or equal to $1,000

Larry Outlaw — Possession of Schedule I/II drugs

Thomas Eugene Pickett Jr. — Grand larceny-auto theft

Cleveland Newjean Robertson — Possession of Schedule I/II drugs

Matthew Russell — Rape by force/threat

Afton Scott Smith Jr. — Possession of a gun with schedule I/II drugs and possession of schedule I/II drugs

Randy Eugene Spencer — Elude police officer endangerment

Jordyn Breann Stallings — Assault and battery of a law enforcement officer

Chance William Tauler — Aggravated malicious wounding

Denise Taylor — Possession of schedule I/II drugs and driving while intoxicated third offense within five years

Joseph Williams IV — Firearm falsify purchase form

Trevon Jermil Wilson — Possession with intent to distribute marijuana greater than one ounce and less than five pounds and larceny of a firearm

Kendell E. Wingfield — Conspiracy-robbery, robbery using force and violent felon possession/transport weapon (capias)
