Art League offers two student scholarships

The Suffolk Art League has two scholarships available for Suffolk youth with an interest in the arts.

Both scholarships are intended for students entering grades six-12 in the 2023-2024 school year, and available for all students who live in or attend school in Suffolk.

The Sharon Picot and Chip Picot Memorial Scholarship is for students interested in a wide range of creative endeavors, including but not limited to visual, performing and the literary arts. The scholarship award can be up to $5,410.

The John R. Taylor Memorial Scholarship is available to students interested in pursuing the visual arts. This award can be up to $540.

New this year, students can apply via Google Form. Applications can also be submitted via email, mailed or hand-delivered. See application for full instructions. The deadline to apply for both scholarships is April 20, 2023.

Award recipients will be named in May 2023. Applications are available through the Suffolk Art League’s website and social media channels.

The Suffolk Art League said generous donors, members and volunteers have made these scholarships possible. The mission of the organization is to remove barriers to the arts for the people of Suffolk and the surrounding areas, and these scholarships are a vital part of that work, organization officials said.
