A Suffolk man died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Monday night in Isle of Wight County.
Virginia State Police report that Lorinza Thomas Boone, 76, of Deer Path Road was killed when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Windsor Boulevard (U.S. 460) and Lovers Lane at about 8:20 p.m. Monday, March 20.
VSP said in a news release that Boone was traveling southbound in a 2007 Dodge Caravan on Lovers Lane, failed to stop when making a left turn onto U.S. 460 and drove into the path of a 2011 Ford Eagle that was traveling westbound on U.S. 460.
Boone suffered serious life threatening injuries and was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Ford Eagle, a 16-year-old female, and the 8-year-old front seat passenger, both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported from the scene.
VSP said it is unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor. Boone was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, the news release stated.
