Suffolk man dies after Thursday shooting

Police are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting that left a Suffolk man dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Suffolk 911 Center received a call for shots fired and then a call for a person being shot in the area of the 300 block of S. Division Street at about 5:04 p.m. Thursday, March 23.  

When Suffolk. officers arrived, an adult male was located sitting in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, Qurante Budd, 24, of Suffolk, was treated on scene by Suffolk Fire/EMS and then transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Budd was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Police discovered multiple shell casing at the scene, according to a department news release.  There is no suspect information at this time. The investigation remains ongoing. Police said there is no further information available for release.
