Murder suspect in Friday shooting turns himself into Suffolk Police

A Suffolk man wanted in connection with a Friday night shooting death turned himself into police Monday evening.

Alvin Lorenzo Bryant Jr., 42, turned himself in at Suffolk Police Precinct 2 at about 8:59 p.m., April 10, according to a department news release.

Bryant is charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by felon in the shooting death of David Joshua Gomes, 37, of Suffolk, in the 300 block of Beech Street Friday, April 7.

Suffolk 911 Center received a call in reference to the shooting at 7:23 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, an adult male was located suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the release. Gomes was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Bryant is being held in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police said there is no further information available for release.
