Peanut City Cloggers earn top awards at competition

The Peanut City Cloggers competed at the Beach Blast Competition May 20 and as usual did not disappoint.

PCC took 10 routines to compete in different categories and age divisions and returned with eight first place awards, two second place awards and five Grand Champions, according to a news release.

The cloggers received the Grand Champion honors for running set precision, running set hoedown, southern Appalachian hoedown, country hoedown and four or more open hoedown.

In addition, five individuals received awards in solos competition for their age division:

  • Jeylah Finch, first place in flatfoot for 15 and younger.
  • Lillie Short, second place in flatfoot for 15 and younger.
  • Madison Belch, first place for flatfoot for 15 and up.
  • Lauren Canady, second place for flatfoot for 15 and up. 
  • Olivia Morris, third place for flatfoot for 15 and up. 

Among other awards the cloggers received, Madison Belch earned first place for traditional solo for ages 16-19 and overall traditional solo female.

JoAnn Price received first place for traditional solo in the adult age division, while Marcus Blodgett received a judge’s award from ACHF Director Elliott Skeen for calling.

The cloggers will perform two shows in Kilmarnock Saturday, June 3.  

Their next competition is scheduled for Aug. 19th at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
