The Rev. Willie J. Covington Jr., 69, of Chesapeake, transitioned Friday, June 2, 2023 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The Rev. Covington was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. Willie graduated from Suffolk High School in the Class of 1971, Norfolk State University and George Washington University. His professional career included service with the Western Tidewater Services Community Board and the Virginia Department of Health. 

Willie leaves to cherish his memory his wife Vivian Picot Covington; two sons, Willie J. Covington III “Tre” and John Calvin West Jr.; four grandchildren; four sisters, Joan C. Watford (Ernest), Betty C. Dixon, Jacqueline C. Milteer and Dr. Faye C. Bradley (Carroll); one brother, Clarence Covington Sr. (Cynthia); two aunts, Barbara West Copeland and Orpah West; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing is from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at Crocker Funeral Home and the celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County St. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
