Residential structure fire leaves four displaced

According to Suffolk Fire and Rescue, an early morning residential fire in Suffolk on Tuesday, Dec. 12, left three adults and one minor displaced.
SFD responded to the 8200 Block of Harlan Drive for a residential structure fire at approximately 4 a.m. on Tuesday, the department said in a press release.
According to the release, the fire was contained in the kitchen, with moderate fire damage and heavy smoke damage throughout the structure. Multiple dogs were rescued from the structure, and one bird deceased.
“No firefighters or civilians were injured,” the release said. “The Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the cause and origin of the fire, and the fire is determined to be accidental caused by attended cooking. The fire was placed under control at 4:25 a.m. Suffolk Police provided scene and traffic control.”
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
