Suffolk Fire and Rescue battling 30 acre brush fire

UPDATE – Suffolk Fire & Rescue placed the brush fire under control at 5:57 p.m. No injuries. Fire apparatus and resources are beginning to demobilize. A fire watch will continue over night to ensure the fire does not rekindle. Over 70 firefighters responded to the brush fire with an estimated 30-50 acres burned.

SUFFOLK – Suffolk Fire & Rescue is currently on the scene of
a four-alarm brush fire encompassing 30-acres in the area of the 8300 block of
Pineview Rd near Vicksburg Rd and Bott Lane, in the Holland area of Suffolk. Suffolk
Emergency Communications Center was notified of the fire at 12:25 p.m. on
Thursday, December 5, 2024.

The brush fire is threatening buildings and homes in the area but, due to the SFR
efforts, no structures have caught fire. High winds are posing a challenge to contain
the fire, but at this time, it is estimated that the fire is 90% contained. No homes have
been evacuated at this time.

Pineview Rd, Vicksburg Rd and Bott Lane are anticipated to be closed to traffic into
the evening.

Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is also on the scene to investigate the origin of the fire.
No determination has been made as of the time of this release.
