The Silos is a unique bar space offering craft cocktails, draft beers, snack foods, arcade games, live music, and a rooftop bar. It’s located in Bridgeport North Suffolk and had its grand opening on Nov. 21.

Staying true to its name, Silos is built around three silos that were original to the property. The metal walls and exposed ceiling create a country, rustic atmosphere that makes you forget you’re in a shopping center. The lights and heaters on the rooftop are inviting and reminiscent of a backyard party.

The first floor features two bars, arcade games, and a pool table. There’s another bar on the rooftop with a lounge area that features special drinks. The courtyard has more seating, a bonfire, a stage, and will soon have a walk-up taco window.

Silos is situated right next to Westside Burgers and is under the same management. Customers will be able to walk freely between the two and can order from the Westside menu at Silos.

Whitney Hoag, Silos operation manager, said the grand opening went “really well.”

“[The reception has] been really good,” she said. “I think people were ready for a place like this to go that is unique to the area.”

Hoag said the goal for Silos is to be a family-friendly place for people to hang out and socialize with good food and drinks. They want to offer a wide variety of activities that people of all ages can enjoy.

“I think that the environment itself creates this atmosphere that is different,” she said. “It invites you to walk around. It invites you to talk to people, watch TV if you want, play games.”

While it’s a bit cold to sit outside right now, Hoag said they have booked some local artists to play inside Silos until it’s warm enough for the outdoor stage to be used. She said they’re planning to have live music every weekend.

“We really want to embrace, you know, the local community and local artists,” she said. “I think it’s really important to support the people around you, so it’s mostly going to be local.”

Other local artists have already been featured at the Silos through murals painted on the walls. Kristin Hinson did the two downstairs — one of them is of framed woodland creatures and the other is a banner that reads “Bennetts Creek Farm” — and Seth Lubaton did the grain field in the rooftop lounge area.

The menu features “approachable” craft cocktails and mocktails with a special Silos twist, Hoag said. They also have three draft beer systems between the different bars. In addition to the Westside menu being offered, Silos has its own small snacks menu with charcuterie, nachos, deviled eggs, and other similar sharable bites. The taco shack will be open in a few months, Hoag said.

Executive chef Jason Selby said he wants to focus on simple, great ingredients to produce consistently good products. The emphasis, he said, is to create really delicious ready-to-eat food that doesn’t take hardly any time to prepare.

“I’m really happy to be able to offer a product between Westside and Silos and an experience to our community,” he said.
