Suffolk’s 2025 20 Under 40 nominations now open

Suffolk, VA—The Suffolk News-Herald is proud to announce that nominations for Suffolk’s 2025 20 Under 40 awards have opened. The awards seek to recognize Suffolk’s emerging young leaders in the workforce, entrepreneurship, and community service.

The Suffolk News-Herald is looking for individuals who stand out from their peers due to their achievements in the workforce or the community. It is seeking excelling leaders, influencers, and rising leaders in the community.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Nominees must be under the age of 40 on June 1, 2025.
  • Nominees turning 40 on or before June 2, 2025, are not eligible.
  • Nominees must live, work, and/or make significant contributions to the Suffolk community.
  • Nominees should demonstrate success in one or more of the following areas:
    • Workforce: Demonstrating leadership, taking initiative, and seeking innovative solutions to work-related challenges.
    • Entrepreneurship: Utilizing available resources, knowledge, and community connections to create value in Suffolk through business or nonprofit ventures.
    • Community Service: Providing valuable service by contributing significant time and energy, including volunteering and civic engagement.

Nomination Process:

Required Information for Nomination:

  • Nominee’s full name, mobile number, email address, current employer, and job title.
  • Completed nomination questionnaire describing why the nominee should be considered.
  • Letters of recommendation (optional). If included, letters must be uploaded to the nomination form, as separately submitted letters will not be considered.
  • Any other materials, such as a resume or supporting information, should be combined into one document (Word or PDF).

Selection and Recognition:

  • A committee of Suffolk News-Herald staff will choose the 20 honorees.
  • Honorees will be featured in a story in the Suffolk News-Herald beginning with the June 4 edition and on the SNH website and social media accounts.
  • Marketing opportunities are available, but the purchase of advertising will not affect the selection process.
