Suffolk Police investigate train crash that left pedestrian dead

Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a train and a pedestrian in the 200 block of South Saratoga Street.

A media release from SPD says the call came in to Suffolk Emergency Communications Center at approximately 3:18 a.m. on Friday, Feb.  7, 2025.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to perform life-saving measures, however, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Multiple railroad crossings in the area of S Saratoga Street and Hall Avenue are shut down at this time due to the train being stopped for investigation purposes. Detours will be in place.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.

This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information available for release at this time.
