Camp Community College has hired DeMoné Brickhouse to lead the college’s softball program as head coach.

A Camp news release noted that Brickhouse is a 2017 graduate of Virginia State University. While attending VSU, she was a member of the softball team and earned a spot on the All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association team.

Upon graduating from college, Brickhouse combined her love of athletics with her softball skills and insight to begin her coaching career by volunteering with travel ball and community-based organizations, such as Down the Middle Foundation.

While coaching and volunteering, she also developed a passion to train youth and young adult athletes.

Brickhouse serves as a lead special education teacher and assistant athletic director at Southampton High School, where she also has coached the varsity girls volleyball and softball teams for three years, along with the varsity girls basketball team for one year. Among the team honors earned during her leadership is the volleyball team ending its season as Tri-Rivers District champion, ranking third overall in Region 3A.

At Camp, Coach Brickhouse succeeds Sean Wade, who is now an assistant coach at Richard Bland College.
