The Sheriff’s Office delivered handmade Valentine’s Day cards to four Suffolk nursing homes on Tuesday. The cards were made by students at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
Sheriff David Miles hand-delivered the cards to residents of Nans Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Northern Cardinal Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Lake Prince Woods, and Autumn Care of Suffolk. Deputies Bianca Martin, Timothy Olah, and Shanika Dudley were also in attendance.
Miles said he’s been participating in this event for years, and he always enjoys it. This year was one of the deputy’s first times participating, and Miles said “her energy and joy” made it “brand new” for him this year.
The Sheriff’s Department regularly visits the nursing homes throughout the year, so they’ve been able to form connections with some of the residents who regularly attend their events. Miles said it’s “always nice to see them and see that they’re doing well.”
“It’s just a great opportunity to share some joy, share some smiles, and not to forget anyone on Valentine’s Day,” Miles said.
