Closings and Cancellations

Here is a list of closings and cancellations due to the upcoming winter storm. This list will be updated as announcements are made. 
  • Due to the upcoming winter storm forecasted for this week, The Virginia State Police will postpone the OPEN HOUSE event scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025.
  • Suffolk Public Schools – Thursday and Friday will be asynchronous learning days. The Saturday Academy scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025, has been canceled. All after-school athletics and activities are canceled for Thursday, February 20, Friday, February 21, and Saturday, February 22, 2025.
  • All Isle of Wight County Schools and Offices will be closed for students and staff on Thursday, February 20. In addition, all school activities and events are also canceled. Schools are closed Friday for in-person learning. Friday will be an asynchronous day for students and a virtual work day for employees. Teachers shared work with their students on Tuesday to be completed for the asynchronous day.
  • Suffolk Art League’s 41st Annual Antique Show and Sale at Kings Fork Middle School has been postponed due to weather conditions. Stay tuned for a new show date!
  • The Mills E. Godwin, Jr. Courts Building advises that the courts will open at
    11:00 a.m., tomorrow, Friday, February 21.
  • Refuse and recycling collection is suspended for Thursday, February 20 and
    Friday, February 21. Refuse collection will not be rescheduled and residents
    can expect their collection to resume on their normal day next week.
  • Suffolk Transit service is suspended tomorrow, Friday, February 21.
  • The East Suffolk Recreation Center, Curtis Milteer Recreation Center, and
    Bennett’s Creek Recreation Center will open at 11:00 a.m., tomorrow, Friday,
    February 21.
  • Suffolk’s four major parks (Lone Star Lakes, Lake Meade, Sleepy Hole,
    Bennett’s Creek) will open at 11:00 a.m., tomorrow, Friday, February 21.
  • All Suffolk City Libraries (Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk) will be open at 11:00
    a.m., tomorrow, Friday, February 21.
  • The Suffolk Art Gallery will open at 11:00 a.m., tomorrow, Friday, February 21.
