James R. Moodie affectionately called “Jim” of Capron, VA answered the Master’s call on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Bons Secour Southside Hospital in Petersburg, VA. A native of Ohio, he was born on June 28, 1946, to Orville and Helen Garrett Moodie. He was a Police officer in Ohio and retired as a Lieutenant of the Suffolk, VA Police Department after 22 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force. Jim leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Yasmin Spruill Artis-Moodie; his children, Lisa Peters (George Barkho) of Buford, GA, Barbara Ann Moodie of Franklin, VA. Lester J. Artis (Aviva) of Sedley, VA, Charles J. Artis of Caprom, VA, Tyler Artis of Richmond, VA and Yasmine Brianne Artis of Columbus, OH two sisters: Mary Landrum of Elkhart, IN, and Cheryl Hostetler of Three Rivers, MI. nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives, and friends. 

Visitation will be Friday, February 28th, 2025 – 04:00 PM to 07:00 PM – (EST) – Crocker Funeral Home Suffolk. 

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 1 at noon at  First Baptist Church Mahan, Hunter’s Funeral Home Ahoskie in  NC is handling the arrangements.
