Chesapeake woman dies in sledding accident

A tragic incident claimed the life of a Chesapeake woman and injured five others in Suffolk on Thursday, Feb. 20, in what police say was a sledding accident involving a utility terrain vehicle(UTV). 26-year-old Madelyn Lowe succumbed to injuries sustained while attempting to use a makeshift sled pulled by the UTV.
The incident occurred in the 2400 block of Longstreet Lane at approximately 4 p.m., after Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to provide medical assistance to multiple individuals.
Four adults and two juveniles were transported to local hospitals. Lowe died at the hospital as a result of her injuries. The other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
