Deacon Beatrice Evans of South Quay Road, Suffolk, Virginia passed away on February 23, 2025 while a patient in Courtland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born January 14, 1931 to the late Ryland and Luvenia Barrett.
Deacon Evans was a longtime member of Chapel Grove United Church of Christ where she served on the Usher Ministry. She also enjoyed her affiliation with the women’s fellowship at Laurel Hill United Church of Christ.
She was educated in the public schools of Nansemond County, now Suffolk, Virginia.
James L. Evans and Beatrice were united in holy matrimony in 1948, and they remained united until his demise in 2003; and her son, Norris Evans also predeceased her. Deacon Evans is survived by three children, Evelyn Walker, Morris Evans (Veronica) and Thomas Evans. Her sister, Lula Holland, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and loving family will cherish her memory forever.
On Sunday a public viewing will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A celebration of life will be Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Chapel Grove United Church of Christ, 7366 West Blackwater Road, Windsor, Virginia with Elder Andri Knight delivering the eulogy. The committal and benediction will follow in the church cemetery. Service provided by the professional and caring staff of Wm. M.
