It’s hard to believe that we are already talking about spring in Suffolk. It feels like it was just a few weeks ago that we were digging our way out from underneath nearly a foot of snow. Oh, wait, it was. I don’t know about you, but I’m one and done with snow. It’s fun for a short period of time. Once it’s over, warmer weather is appreciated.

Springtime always gives me a new and refreshed feeling. The sun is setting just a little later every day. The increasing temperatures are inviting evening walks again. The sights of daffodils, dandelions and buttercups in neighbor’s yards and the sounds of children outside playing once again are all reminders of the beautiful transformations of the changing seasons. Speaking of children outside playing. Young Suffolkians are donning their cleats to get back out on the fields again and SYAA is serving up yet another season of Spring sports in a long standing history of serving youth in Suffolk.   I also find that the fresh air and sunshine returning to the area give me the urge to be more crafty. If I had to take a look backward, it always seems I’m breaking out my paintbrushes and canvas around daylight savings time. A nice backyard painting session is always a great way to relax after a long day at work. For one Suffolk woman, crafting has become a way of life. Learn more about her artwork, Etsy shop and mentoring of others on page 12. While you’re there, be sure to check out In The News on page 11.

While I’m not looking forward to pollen covered cars, yellow running in the streets or allergies. I am gleeful with anticipation of some of the aforementioned coming of spring. Hopefully, dear old groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil’s February prediction of 6 more weeks of winter is short lived and the post-snow warmer temperatures are here to stay. Whatever the weather, I hope you enjoy the coming months.
