William B. Ballard Sr.

William B. Ballard Sr. 97 years old, of Suffolk, Virginia passed away on Sunday, April 13 2025 at Autumn Care of Mechanicsville.

Survivors include son William B. Ballard, Jr. (Jean), daughter Bonnie Deardorff (Dan), (and grandchildren Mia Puglisi, Justin Ballard, Brandon Wingfield, Aaron Ballard, Mari B. Clark, Wes Wingfield, and Blake Ballard, plus many great grandchildren).  He was preceded in death by Betty Atkinson Ballard six years ago. Internment will be private along the Nansemond River.

William was an avid boatsman and beach dad , a Virginia peanut farmer, real estate manager, and hardware store owner as well as an investor, He was a graduate of Suffolk High School, attended Va. Tech, served in the U.S. Army and 82nd Airborne , and a highway civil engineer in Emporia and Williamsburg. Good friends called him, “Low Tide” Ballard and Little Ordinary. He was a good family man and was devoted to his wife Boo, his 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. William was the last of three Ballard brothers, Buster, and Robert Hall, and for years was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church with wife Boo.
