Suffolk Public Library is adding a bit of gaming to its shelves.
Beginning May 1, library cardholders age 18 and older can check out Nintendo Switch consoles as part of the Library of Things collection, which provides access to nontraditional items such as Wi-Fi hotspots and educational kits.
According to a media release, each Nintendo Switch kit includes a console, controllers, game cartridges, and instructions. The kits are available at all Suffolk Public Library branches: Morgan Memorial Library, North Suffolk Library, and Chuckatuck Library.
“This addition furthers our mission of offering access, opportunity, and innovation to the Suffolk community,” the release said.
The Library of Things aims to give residents hands-on access to tools and technology they may not otherwise be able to afford or try while also supporting interactive learning, digital literacy, and family engagement.
More information and online holds for the Nintendo Switch kits can be found at suffolkpubliclibrary.com/429/Nintendo-Switch or by visiting any library location.
Morgan Memorial Library is located at 443 W. Washington St., North Suffolk Library at 2000 Bennetts Creek Park Road, and Chuckatuck Library at 5881 Godwin Blvd.
