With the official opening of Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center on May 6, new healthcare jobs have been created, offering positions for nurses, physicians, and administrative staff.
“The opening of Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center represents more than just expanded healthcare access for Suffolk residents — it’s a significant investment in our region’s healthcare workforce,” said Kristen McSorley, vice president of nursing at Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center. “We’re not just creating jobs; we’re cultivating meaningful careers in nursing and allied health fields supported by our innovative AI-powered technology and tuition-free education programs through Guild Education.”
The fully integrated medical center eliminates travel burdens for residents and healthcare workers, providing local access to top-tier care. With four state-of-the-art operating rooms and private inpatient accommodations, medical teams will have cutting-edge facilities to provide advanced care.
Specialized roles supported by innovative AI-powered patient monitoring, surgical care, and emergency medicine help develop a highly skilled workforce.
“Our nurses will work in an environment where they can provide exceptional patient care while growing professionally through advanced training and leadership development,” McSorley said.
Bon Secours offers competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for advancement in a collaborative work environment. Benefits include mental health resources, eight weeks of paid parental leave for birth or adoption, and support to grow in your career.
Bon Secours has partnered with Guild Education, the leader in education benefits, to empower all associates to pursue a full range of expanded educational programs.
This partnership includes 100% tuition-free education for clinical programs supporting career growth to roles such as nursing support, nursing, medical assistant, laboratory, respiratory therapy, pharmacy tech, surgical tech, sterile processing tech and imaging.
Participants can get up to $5,250 per year toward in-network academic programs and undergraduate degrees and up to $10,000 per year toward in-network nursing and other graduate degrees.
Additionally, foundational learning programs are offered such as high school and GED completion, English language learning, and technology fundamentals.
Employees will also have the ability to pursue clinical excellence using tuition assistance or tuition reimbursement for other clinical education programs and some clinical certifications and can receive personalized support from Guild’s expert coaches who can answer education benefit questions and support you along your education journey.
Through Guild, 60 programs are available from 17 schools, colleges, and universities with many classes being held online with flexible start dates. Student loan optimization is also a priority, with support and tools from Candidly.
Bon Secours has been a trusted healthcare provider in Hampton Roads for over 26 years, continually supporting workforce development and accessibility.
By prioritizing underserved populations and integrating community feedback, the facility fosters healthcare careers with a meaningful impact.
“What makes this particularly rewarding is that many of our team members will be caring for their own neighbors and community members, bringing a deeply personal connection to the compassionate care we provide,” McSorley said.
