SUFFOLK – In an ongoing effort to enhance safety for both motorists and roadway workers, the City of Suffolk will deploy automated Work Zone Traffic Enforcement Cameras on Route 58 at the SPSA Interchange Improvements project beginning Monday, June 2.

A 45-day warning period will begin on June 2, during which violators will receive warning notices by mail. After this period, beginning July 17, 2025, speeding violations will result in a $100 penalty.

The Route 58 corridor is a high-traffic area, and reducing speeds through the work zone helps ensure the safety of the workers on site and the thousands of drivers who travel the route daily.

Signage will be posted in advance of the enforcement zone to alert drivers. The City of Suffolk encourages all motorists to obey posted speed limits, particularly in work zones, where hazards and changing conditions demand extra caution.
