Fire displaces two in Suffolk residential blaze

SUFFOLK, Va. — A fire damaged a single-story home in he 4700 block of Camellia Drive Monday evening, displacing two adults, according to a media release from Suffolk Fire and Rescue.

The Suffolk Emergency Communications Center received the call at 6:54 p.m. on May 26. Crews arrived at 6:59 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the residence.

Fire crews conducted an aggressive interior attack and located the fire in the laundry room and attic area. The two adult occupants evacuated the home before firefighters arrived.

The fire was brought under control by 7:30 p.m., but the home sustained extensive fire damage. No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants. The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
