One firefighter transported to local hospital during residential fire

SUFFOLK – Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the 300 Block of Clover Lane for a residential structure fire. Suffolk Emergency Communications Dispatch Center dispatched the incident at 3:31 p.m.

Medic 8 arrived at 3:40 p.m. to find a single-story residence with smoke conditions on the second floor. Crews made entry to locate the fire and search the structure.  During the fire attack, a firefighter sustained injury and was immediately treated on the scene. The fire was located in the laundry room and on the second floor and the fire was contained to the laundry room.  Four occupants are displaced.  The home sustained heavy smoke damage to the second floor and fire damage to the laundry room.  The fire was placed under control at 3:58 p.m. 

The injured firefighter was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.  The fire was investigated by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office and determined to be accidental.
