Fire damages home on Woodlawn Drive; three displaced

According to Suffolk Fire & Rescue, a late-night fire on Woodlawn Drive displaced three residents and caused significant damage to a single-story home.
Emergency Communications dispatched fire crews to the 3000 block of Woodlawn Drive at 11:08 p.m. Thursday, May 29. Crews arrived on scene at 11:14 p.m. and reported smoke and flames from a front window, along with heavy smoke from the attic.
Firefighters entered the structure to search for the source of the blaze. The fire was found in a bedroom, and although it was well advanced in that area, crews were able to contain it to the room of origin. The fire was brought under control by 11:35 p.m.
No injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel. The American Red Cross is assisting the three displaced occupants.
The home sustained heavy smoke damage throughout, with extensive fire damage in the affected bedroom.
The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
