Portsmouth man arrested after fatal Suffolk shooting

SUFFOLK, Va. — A woman was killed and two others injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in North Suffolk, and police have arrested a Portsmouth man in connection with the crime.

According to the Suffolk Police Department, Derrick Dontre Corbett, 35, was taken into custody following the incident, which occurred around 1:35 a.m. in the 5600 block of Shoulders Hill Road.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult female deceased. Two other victims suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Corbett is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, six counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and three counts of shoot, cut or stab in the commission of a felony.
