Suffolk Public Works announced a new entrance to Nansemond River High School from Sleepy Hole Road will officially open on Monday, June 9, 2025.
As part of this transition, the main entrance on Nansemond Parkway will be permanently closed. The bus entrance will remain open and not be impacted by the project.
To accommodate the new school entrance, the current traffic signal near the former entrance will be removed, and a new signal will be installed at the intersection of Nansemond Parkway and Sleepy Hole Road. This change is intended to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for commuters and school-related traffic during peak hours.
Additional improvements and upgrades to the high school parking lot are ongoing at the intersection of Bennett’s Pasture Road and Nansemond Parkway.
