As part of its consent agenda during the Wednesday, June 4 city meeting, the Suffolk City Council unanimously approved two items: a firearms training grant for the Sheriff’s Office and a donation to the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Department.

Council accepted a $2,944.92 grant from the National Rifle Association Foundation for the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office. According to City Manager Al Moor, the funds will be used to purchase ammunition for the sheriff’s office. The grant does not require a local fund match.

Also on the consent agenda was a resolution authorizing the Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue to receive an ultrasound package valued at $8,288.71 from the Tidewater Emergency Medical Services Council.
