Suffolk will launch its annual National Night Out celebration with a community kickoff and registration event set for Tuesday, June 24, at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 442 W. Washington St.
The event welcomes neighborhood groups, local businesses, civic leaders, and residents interested in joining the citywide celebration, which is designed to strengthen community ties and promote public safety through partnerships between residents and law enforcement.
Attendees will have the chance to meet with National Night Out organizers, learn about plans for the 2025 event, and pre-register to participate. The city’s National Night Out Committee will be on hand to answer questions and provide resources for community involvement.
Suffolk has consistently received national recognition for its efforts, placing in the top 10 among cities in its population category for more than a decade. The city has earned first-place national honors six times — in 2008, 2009, 2014, 2016, 2018, and again in 2022 and 2023.
This year marks Suffolk’s entry into a new population bracket — 100,000 to 300,000 residents — and the city has again placed in the top 10 nationally.
The 2025 National Night Out celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 5. The annual event is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at building stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
