The Suffolk Art League and Keep Suffolk Beautiful are excited to announce a new public art project coming to downtown Suffolk. Acclaimed Miami-based muralist Jorge-Miguel Rodriguez will begin work on a large-scale mural at Festival Park on July 10, 2025, pending weather conditions.
The mural will showcase several iconic Suffolk landmarks, celebrating the city’s unique character and culture through vibrant colors and artistic expression. The installation is expected to take just over two weeks to complete, allowing both residents and visitors to enjoy the creative process in real time.
This mural marks the latest collaboration between the Suffolk Art League and Keep Suffolk Beautiful, both of which continue to champion public art and work to create a more welcoming and creative atmosphere in the city. Funds from the Suffolk Earth and Arts Festival will help support the mural’s creation.
A public artist reception will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Suffolk Art Gallery, located at 110 Bosley Avenue. This event will provide a unique opportunity for the public to meet Jorge-Miguel Rodriguez, hear about his artistic process, and learn about the inspiration behind the mural.
“We’re thrilled to bring Jorge-Miguel’s artistry to this project,” said Hillarey Breedlove, Director of the Suffolk Art League. “His work will inspire conversation and add a fresh burst of color and energy to Historic Downtown Suffolk.”
