Mary Lee Davis, 69, daughter of the late Curtis and Marie Goodman; beloved stepmother Rosia J. Goodman, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Bayside Sentara Hospital.

Mary Lee was affectionately known as “Tinee” by her loved ones. She was a member of the Diamond Grove Baptist Church, where she served on various auxiliaries such as the senior choir, combined choir and gospel choir, usher board and Sunday school teacher.

She was also a devoted member of The Willing Workers of Newport News, Va. She was preceded in death by a son, Charlie W. Goodman, two brothers, Charlie L. Goodman and Kay-Kay; one sister, Ellen M. Matthews.

Mary Lee retired after performing 30 years of government service while working at Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a rigger in Shop 72, a timekeeper, a dispatcher; Family Advocacy Center in Norfolk as a secretary, Personnel Support Detachment at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center as an identification card technician, where she retired in 2004.

Mary Lee was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her husband, James A. Davis Sr. Along with her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory five children: special daughter, Beverly Foster (William), Rebecca Jordan, Lisa Yates (Joseph), James Davis Jr., Tremayne Davis; three sisters, Gladys Carolina, Barbara Roberts and Thelma Boone; one brother, Curtis Haynes; six grandchildren, Wayne Jefferson, Shalonda and Shavonda Goodman, Joseph Yates, Virginia Davis, Ja’lisa Yates; two great-grandchildren, Amaya Goodman, Jahlil Jefferson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Homegoing service of celebration will be held at noon on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010 at Diamond Grove Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Calvin A. Lilliard, Pastor. Interment will be at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, Va. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
