Alexander “Mickey” Bailey, beloved husband, father and brother, passed away peacefully on Nov. 11, 2010. A lifelong resident of Suffolk, Va., he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Suffolk and later attended Norfolk State College (now University).

He was born on Feb. 10, 1934 to Elijah Bailey Jr. and Calethia Bryant Bailey, who both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are a sister, Claudette Ross, and a grandson, Derek Barnes.

Alexander is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Bailey; his children, Vickie Clark (Bernard), of Conroe, Texas, Jeffrey Bailey, of Suffolk, Pamela Bailey, of Conroe, Texas, William Bailey, of Norfolk, and Crystal Bailey, of Suffolk.

He has one surviving brother, Willard Bailey, of Chesapeake, Va., and two sisters, Carol Dixon, of Pensacola, Fla., and Angelina Cunningham (Leroy), of Sumter, S.C.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

In honor of his life, family and friends will visit to share words of comfort and encouragement on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010. The wake will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., with the homegoing celebration beginning at noon. Both services will be held at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County St., Suffolk, Va., with Pastor Robert Hobbs officiating. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
