Doris Moore Chinnis, 84, of Chester, Va., entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 7, 2010. Mrs. Chinnis was born in Appomattox, Va., but lived most of her adult life in Suffolk, Va. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986 and continued a full and active life. Mrs. Chinnis received an associate degree in 1993 and a bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University in 2001. She was a member of Good News Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Va., where she faithfully served for over 30 years. She loved to read and was an avid supporter of Christian education, influencing her children and grandchildren to attend Christian schools and universities.

Mrs. Chinnis was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Wheeler Chinnis Jr. She is survived by her brother and wife, Coleman and Shirley Moore; her daughters and their spouses, Karen and John Kruger, Kim and Lee Holland; two grandchildren and spouses, Matthew and Marie Kruger, Jeanette and Kyle Walton; and four great-grandchildren, Coleman Kruger, Brooke, Kylie and Kody Walton.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Good News Baptist Church, 3252 Taylor Road, Chesapeake, Va., with interment following in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk.
